Bookish Book stores around the globe

Hello!! Today's blog post is on what I consider to be the most bookish book stores around the world. From Taiwan to New York, here is a short list of bookstores that can truly teleport you to somewhere else.

First up, we have the Strand in New York City.

The strand was opened in 1927 and today it carries 2.5 million used, new, and rare books covering a range of topics. The store also offers a unique range of bookish gifts and goodies.

The Strand is also a popular filming set, it was used in the filming of the Tv show Dash and Lily in 2020.

Secondly, we have El Ateneo Grand Splendid in Buenos Aires. Originally a theatre in 1919 and consequently, a cinema in 1929. In 200 it was in danger of being demolished when it was turned into a bookstore and is now a renowned shop drawing in over a million customers a year.

Third, there is Beitou Library in Taipei. This library is a free and public space to all and is home to "4 sections, 6 rooms, 44 branch libraries and 12 public reading rooms" (https://tpml.gov.taipei/News_Content.aspx?n=012B884735D8E77E&sms=CB815283A8CDE58F&s=D1CB9AAFD03FFDC2 website, accessed on 27/5/24).

Lastly, we have Livraria Lello in Portugal. This bookstore has been nicknamed the most beautiful bookstore in the world and is famous for its old world opulence. It was opened in 1906 and to this day is one of the most popular bookstores in the world.
