Let’s admit it, writing is never really just writing. It’s the planning, it’s the aesthetic photos, the vibes, the playlists, the Pinterest boards. Writing is never merely just writing.
We create worlds in our heads and sprawl them out onto paper to help other people see these things we create.
As writers, there are some very useful websites and apps that can help us plan and communicate this vision.
Below is a short list of the ones I most commonly use but feel free to comment any you use!
1. Notion
Notion is a great website that can help with planning, mood boards, and to-do lists. You can even write your entire book on it if you like. It’s easy to use and free!
2. Pinterest and Spotify
These two go without saying. Pinterest is best for envisioning worlds and vibes and Spotify helps to make playlists to suit your novels
3. Canva
Canva can be used as well to make bookmarks or even book covers and has great graphics to help market your book in many different ways!
4. WordTracker
This is an app for iOS and it helps you keep a daily word count goal. Set your goal of total words and an end date and you can update your progress daily. It helps to keep on track and know how many words you should or try to write a day and it’s free!
5. Chill Subs
Chill Subs is a website which compiles lists of different literary magazines to submit to. It has tons of options and filters to match your taste for what you want to submit to the magazines or if you’re just browsing!
6. Fable
While this isn’t a writing app Fable is great for keeping track of your reading and you can easily select books you’re interested in as well as getting personalised recommendations too
7. Picrew
Picrew is a great website where you can create a character avatar of sorts with millions of different art styles and poses to choose from you can create the characters of your dreams!
